choosing the Belvedere for Buttock and Thigh Lift
A thigh or buttock lift, is a surgical procedure which lifts and tightens loose skin, improving the contour of the thigh and buttock area. This procedure is not a treatment for obesity or a substitute for proper diet and exercise. A thigh/buttock lift is ideal if you are self-conscious about your lower body appearance and:
- You have lost some skin elasticity in your thigh, hip, or buttock areas.
- Your skin area sags or has an “orange peel,” or dimpled appearance.
- The appearance of your thigh improves dramatically when you lift the lax skin.

This procedure lifts the thighs and buttocks by removing a segment of skin. To lift the inner thighs, short incisions are made extending from the back of the thigh/groin crease around to the buttock crease. Lifting the entire thigh and buttock (also known as circumferential lower body lift) requires much longer incisions. These incisions are made starting in the buttock crease, then extending around the groin, up and over the side of the abdomen, over the flank and then across the back.
The remaining scar lies across the lower abdomen and just above the buttocks on the back. The major benefits to our patients are tighter buttocks, diminishing or completely removing thigh cellulite and removal of back rolls or excess back skin after losing excessive weight. A simple way to test for the result of such a procedure is to pinch the skin just above the hips on both sides while looking in the mirror.
Recovery
For the first couple of days after your thigh and/or buttock lift surgery you will experience some discomfort in the lifted area but this will subside after a few days and the tightness you feel will become normal. Bruising and swelling usually lasts a couple of weeks but this depends on the patient. Being fit and healthy in the lead up to your thigh and/or buttock lift procedure will benefit your recovery. You may also need to wear compression bandages to help reduce swelling and aid in the tightening of the skin. Due to the strategic placement of the incisions, swimwear can be worn without revealing the scars. Heavy lifting and strenuous exercise should be avoided for the first 6-8 weeks.
Excess tissue is removed from two oval shaped incisions made at the top of the thigh or buttock and the skin is lifted and held to give the desired effect of firm thighs and buttocks.
Procedure Time: 1.5-2 hours
No of Procedures Needed: 1
Recovery Time: 6-8 weeks
This procedure can often be combined with liposuction for further body scultping however this will increase the amount of time in surgery.
FAQ about Buttock and Thigh Lift Surgery
Women choose to have this cosmetic surgery for a variety of reasons. They may be self conscious about their lower body and choose not to wear shorts or tight jeans. They may have lost weight and as a result the skin has lost its elasticity. The skin in that area may also have started to sag, or the skin may have a dimpled effect. All of these are reasons to consider a thigh and buttock lift.
This procedures should last no longer than two hours, and is carried out under general anaesthetic. This is usually as a day case. Incisions to either the thigh or buttocks will be made, depending on the area that has loose skin and which needs to be lifted. Inner thighs generally only need short incisions to the skin, while lifting the thigh and buttocks requires longer incisions. This excess skin is removed, and sometimes liposuction is also used to suck out any excess fat. The area of skin is then sutured.
It will take between 6 to 8 weeks to make a full recovery. You will be able to go home following the procedures, once you have been given care at home instructions, have eaten and hydrated, and passed urine. You will feel some discomfort for the first few days following surgery, but the tightened and lifted area should not feel painful. You may also be requested to wear a compression bandage to aid the healing process and to avoid swelling. You should avoid heavy lifting for at least six weeks.
This procedure does have long lasting effects, as long as you do not gain or lose lots of weight. It’s also important to remember that the entire body changes as we age, including our thighs and buttocks.
